Today my fd said: since when did market researchers become creative directors? And I asked her what happened. After knowing what was the issue we had a funny sharing. I said: ‘I’ve heard someone from Marketing on phone saying “tune down the background colour by 8.5%”’. She shared: ‘I've heard "can you add 1% black?"’ and she added: ‘I can't even tell the difference’. I continued: wonder how did she define that 8.5% and what was her calculation. Some people in workplace just tried to feedback for the sake of feedback; to show others they are ‘contributing’ and reminding people of their ‘importance’.
I do not understand why those people do not leave certain decisions to the corresponding professionals. Indeed, IT specialists, creative teams, marketing professionals all have their own specialties and professional knowledge. People are designated to different areas to enhance efficiency and maximize outcomes.
Below is my first Smeg ad on Marc Newson series. Marc Newson is one of the most accomplished and influential designers of this generation. Since it is a stunning collection of Smeg appliances that Smeg & Marc bring the colours to kitchens, I picked a yellow oven to feature. The outcome is nice however the product shot could be a bit smaller. How small it should be resized? I will leave it to the graphics professionals =P
